Implementing a solar maintenance plan can help maximise and extend the life of the components of your system. Many solar companies will tell you that solar panels will self clean during periods of rain. If this were true, then our cars would be shiny and sparkling in our driveways every time it rained.
At Bluestone Electrical Solutions, we recommend cleaning of Solar PV Panels every 6 months and a full system check every 12 months. In some locations and conditions it may be prudent to have your panels cleaned quarterly. Dirty solar panels can lose up to 25% of their efficiency. And getting up on your roof to clean your solar panels can be too daunting a task for many homeowners.
Our solar panel cleaning will remove all dirt and debris from your panels including:
- Animal and bird droppings
- Leaves, pollen and other foliage
- Dirt and dust
- Salt from around coastal areas
- Traffic and air pollution
Our technicians use only purified water to clean your panels, leaving them free of water marks and preventing contamination of rainwater tanks that collect runoff from your roof. There may be circumstances that will require more cleaning than our brushes and purified water can provide. In these instances we will use a non-chemical solution, advise you prior to use of our intent to use more than water and why it is necessary; and take all reasonable measures to ensure your rainwater tanks are protected from any runoff.
It is important to protect your investment with a complete Solar and Saftey inspection annually. Our accredited technicians will physically inspect the installation of your system and ensure it complies with AS/NZS 3000. They will check the earthing, panel stability, panel wiring, inverter wiring and meter board wiring. A meter test will be performed on your system to check it's efficiency and provide you with a forecasting report of what output you can expect from your panels.
At the conclusion of the inspection, you will be provided with a report outlining all system checks that have been performed and the results of the checks. Should there be any safety concerns or warranty issues found, you will be made aware of these and recommendations of further action will be provided.

Our maintenance plans are tailored to your needs and your specific solar system with a cleaning and system check schedule that is appropriate for your system. If we have installed your system, we will provide you with a tailored schedule and quote within your user manual. If your system has been installed by another provider we are still able to tailor a cleaning and service package for your system - we may just need to conduct a site visit to ensure your quote is tailored correctly.
